Speakers

Stephanie Maier

Stephanie is the Adobe XD evangelist for UK and EMEA, who teaches XD, principles of UX and UI design. She frequently speaks about design trends (in particular Sustainability, Inclusivity, Diversity), hosts Adobe live streams, and tours Europe for the Adobe Creative Jams.

She will be speaking about inclusive design, and how she created a mobile app for Simon, a blind marathon runner, using the Adobe XD Stark plugin.

Andry Ratovondrahona

Andry, is the IxD Principal at ELSE and brings 15+ years of industry experience to the Mobile UX meetup.  He mostly enjoys turning complex design problems into simple solutions and his mantra is: ‘Master the mundane so you can have free the capacity to focus on the important’. Known for always pushing product owners, business analysts and developers to focus on the details, he has delivered successful products for brands like Sony, Formula 1, Red Bull, UBS and Kodak.

Andry will be speaking about how a design system needs to be more than a collection of specification documents and asset libraries. It’s true, its main purpose is to help the product team design and build new product features. But a product, has a life beyond the end of the development cycle. What are we doing to facilitate content authoring for non-practitioners and consistent content consumption for end users?

Marcus Cooke

As Technology Director at Space Between, Marcus is responsible for coordinating the Biometric Research Team, who identify areas for improvement on eCommerce sites the use of CRO, UX and Biometrics. He has worked with some of the world’s leading eCommerce brands, including ASOS, Reiss, ghd and LEGOland, and includes partnerships with Adobe and Dot Digital.

Marcus will be speaking about how he uses biometrics, along with traditional moderated user research methods, to quantify the UX impact of bad design decisions.

Rocío Calvo Martín and Brian Grellman

Rocio is a Senior UX Researcher at Aviva. Her PhD research looked at how to improve chat interaction for people with disabilities, and older adults. She is certified by IAAP as a web accessibility specialist and CPACC. Prior to Aviva, she was an accessibility and usability consultant at AbilityNet.

Brian is a Senior UX Researcher at Aviva. Prior to Aviva, he was working on the INCA project which is investigating how to empower people with aphasia to create, curate, and access digital content. Aphasia is a language impairment, which is often the result of a stroke, but also causes vision, motor, and cognitive impairments.

Together, Rocio and Brian will tell their story of getting organisational buy-in to accessibility research and tips on how to get started.

Andrew Swartz

Andy is the Director of Design Research at Sutherland Labs, based in London. Andrew began his UX career at Apple in Cupertino. He now designs and runs UX research projects for brand name clients across the globe, and nurtures a team of researchers to do the same. From game consoles to hospital research, he has helped shape the user experience for across generations of devices.

He will be speaking about surprising undercurrents in mobile UX — the day-to-day human behaviour that should underly major product decisions and inspire innovation, but is so obvious that it is too often overlooked.

Sam Hooper

Sam is one of the Lead UX designers at Cyber-Duck, specialising in end-to-end digital transformation projects. Sam’s greatest attribute at work is his empathy for the user. He’s gained this from extensive experience, having run his own e-commerce business and even worked for the UN. With an expertise in UX processes and a good understanding of design and coding, Sam enjoys collaborating in agile environments and is driven by exceeding user and client expectations.

In this talk, he will share some of the things he has learned (sometimes the hard way) on his journey from Junior to UX Lead. He will discuss tips on research, design, working with large organisations and multiple stakeholders, and how to progress your career.
