The Brief (from Orange)

Practically anyone can now access VR environments using a standard smartphone and an affordable headset. Creating & sharing your own 360 degree environments is gaining popularity with a just a smartphone or a dedicated VR/360 camera. How will these environments alter our daily communications? How can we shape the scenes and settings to support those exchanges? And what practical applications can we imagine for everyday life?

These are some of the directions to explore in this Design Hackathon on Virtual Reality environments, allowing designers to craft these imagined scenes using some of the most cutting edge tools for VR design.

FAQ'S

A hackathon is an event where people come together to solve a problem through innovative solutions in a short period of time. HackUX will be focused on how we will design for VR environments and we should interact with these technologies in the future.

HackUX will take place over two days, starting on Friday, July 14 at 6pm until 9pm and on Saturday, July 15 at 9pm until 5pm with drinks afterwards on both days.

The hackathon will be at The Franklin Building, 124 Goswell Road London , EC1V 7DP, London, England

The goal of the hackathon is to create innovative products and solutions in the world of VR, as well as gain knowledge about the issue and make valuable connections.

You and everyone else who signs up for HackUX can pitch ideas in the beginning of the event. After that groups will be formed around the ideas and the hacking will begin!

No. Anyone interested in the topic can sign up and our great mentors will be at the event to help you with anything you need.

Prizes are TBD. They will be awarded for the winners in the following categories: – Solution most aligned to brief – Most original concept – Best use of tool

Bring a computer and whatever else you need to get work done, as well as your best ideas and a lot of energy!

A pack will be shared with participants closer to the date with more specific details about the challenge.

You must sign-up as an individual, but after the ideas pitch you can choose with whom you would like to form a team with, team size ranging from 4-6 members.
